TOUR HIGHLIGHTS

Udawalawe Park: home to nearly 400 elephants that can be seen on safari in herds, bathing, playing and feeding. Other inhabitants of the park are buffalo, deer, monkeys, monitor lizards, birds, and leopards.

Galle: the epic capital of the south is where classic Dutch architecture meets tropical surroundings creating a vivid vibe in beauty.

Haputale: this small province has a rich and dense biodiversity with numerous varieties of flora and fauna, it is surrounded by hills covered with cloud forests and tea plantations.

Kandy: conjures up visions of splendour and magnificence because it was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings before falling under the British Empire.

Matale: A beautiful agricultural area in the Central Province of the island that was the spearhead of the rebellion in 1848 and today stands out for its contribution through emblematic crops that range from tea, rubber and vegetables to the variety of spices.

Silver Temple: a rock-cut Buddhist shrine that features a 30-foot reclining Buddha, surrounded by impressive walls and carvings.

Day 1: ARRIVAL COLOMBO – KOSGODA – BERUWALA (140km – 2.5hrs)

Ayubowan! We welcome you to Sri Lanka (recommended arrival time before 09:00 am). Meeting and assistance upon arrival. Hop on the transfer to Kosgoda. At the turtle orphanage, you have the opportunity to see its different species up close, especially the endangered hawksbill turtle. The most vulnerable of them are their eggs, which are left unprotected on the beaches, but with the goodwill of the fishermen of the Kosgoda area, 100,000 young turtles have been released in just two years as they bring these eggs to the incubator. An unforgettable release experience supervised by the Sri Lankan Wildlife Protection Society.Transfer to Beruwala. Dinner included. Please note alcohol will not be served in public areas in hotels and restaurants during religious holidays.

Day 2: BERUWALA – GALLE – UDAWALAWE (197km – 4hrs)

Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Galle. Galle was one of the major ports of Ceylon, a city rich in history as it was the centre of the Dutch regime in the 17th century and the majestic Galle Fort, spanning 90 acres, bears witness to that. Its original walls and bastions preserved to date show a heritage preserved for more than three and a half centuries. The Dutch museum and the Dutch church are two tourist attractions in Galle, and it is also known for its handcrafted decorative objects. Transfer to Udawalawe National Park for a Safari game drive. Clients will be in the jeep the whole Safari, they will have a Safari ride around the Chandrika Wewa (Chandrika tank) to see the natural beauty around the banks of the tank. Possibility of spotting most of the migratory birds, as well as the local fishing and the fish market. This also includes a visit to the Udawalawe village to explore the cultivation done by the townspeople. Dinner included.

Day 3: UDAWALAWE – LIPTON SEAT – HAPUTALE (137km – 4hrs)

Breakfast at the hotel and hop on a Tuk Tuk (included) and head to the wonderful place of Lipton Seat. Along the way, see the village and local life of the Tamil people who inhabit the Haputale area. When you return, walk in the middle of the tea plantations and experience this wonderful experience up close. Then head to the tea factory visit. We will closely observe the process and manufacture of tea, getting to know the plants, the machines through which the leaves must pass and the different varieties of tea that this island is characterized by, ending this visit with a tasting. Dinner included.

Day 4: HAPUTALE – NUWARA ELIYA – KANDY (131km – 4hrs)

Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Nuwara Eliya. A picturesque village on the shores of Lake Gregory surrounded by mountains with beautiful landscapes also known as "Little England" for its colonial architecture or "the city of light" for its meaning in Sinhalese. Hop on the transfer to Kandy and on the route observe Tea Plantations. Tonight we will enjoy a public performance of typical Sri Lankan cultural dances. Cultural Show: A parade of traditional Sri Lankan dance that flourished in the hill country during ancient times, in which dancers dress in costumes with shimmering hair and breastplates. They jump and twirl to the beat of the drums performing amazing stunts in the air. The highlight of the performance is the fire. Dinner included.

Day 5: KANDY – PERADENIYA – KANDY (20km – 1.5hrs)

Breakfast at the hotel. This is where the Sacred Tooth Relic is placed and preserved, this is undoubtedly the biggest attraction in the city. It is one of the sacred places for Buddhists around the world. See the traditional rituals performed daily by the temple's religious dignitaries in keeping with the culture of the country. Tour through the city of Kandy: Many of the legends and folklore are still alive in this city, such as the daily ceremonies to honour the tooth of Buddha in his Temple that is located in the royal palace complex with wooden pillars, dating from the year 1784 on the shores of Lake of Kandy built by the last Sinhalese king Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1798. Kandy is a World Heritage Site. Then, transfer to the Botanical Garden in Peradeniya. First developed as an amusement park under royalty and later harmonized by the British, the Royal Botanical Garden of Peradeniya is the largest in Sri Lanka, covering an area of 60 hectares, housing more than 4,000 plant species among the collection of orchids and the gigantic Java fig tree stand out. Dinner included.

Day 6: KANDY – MATALE – DAMBULLA – HABARANA (95km – 2.5hrs)

Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Matale. Visit Hindu Temple on the route. We will visit a spice garden to learn about the great variety that the island houses, as well as its properties. Stop by the side of a spice garden and observe the therapeutic values of spices and processes over a refreshing cup of herbal tea! Continue to the Dambulla Rock Temple, the most impressive cave temple in Sri Lanka. Its decoration began over 2000 years ago by King Walagambahu in the 1st century BC. The five cave complex contains around 150 Buddha statues of which the largest is the colossal 14-meter figure of Buddha carved out of the rock. This World Heritage Site also features vividly coloured images and frescoes illustrating Buddhist beliefs that make it the largest area with such paintings found in the world. Transfer to Habarana. Dinner included.

Day 7: HABARANA – HIRIWADUNA – SIGIRIYA – HABARANA (40km – 1.5hrs)

Breakfast at the Hotel and transfer to Hiriwaduna. We will enjoy the Sinhalese culture in its fervour by taking a cultural tour in the town of Hiriwaduna where we will take a walk in the lotus flower lagoon, tour of a Sinhalese village in a cart pulled by oxen that have been used for hundreds of years to carve the land. Transfer to Sigiriya. The impressive fortress of Lion's Rock in Sigiriya is one of the most important archaeological sites in Asia. It is a 70-hectare citadel with its palace on the top of a rock 200 meters high above the forest plains and which is entered in the middle of two huge lion's legs sculpted in stone to protect the fortress. Built in the 5th century by King Kasyaapa, this citadel also has gardens, terraces, an ingenious irrigation system that still feeds the garden of fountains today, a hand-sculpted "mirror wall" with 7th-century graffiti to the XIII, in addition to the frescoes of the "divine ladies" in the Gupta style of India that are the only surviving sample of non-religious art from ancient Sri Lanka. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982. Transfer to Habarana. Dinner included.

Day 8: HABARANA – RIDI HIVARAYA – NEGOMBO (164km – 4hrs)

Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Ridi Hivaraya (Silver Temple). Join the visit and get ready for a trek in the area. Transfer to Negombo. Negombo is a historic coastal city that boasts a substantial colonial heritage. Enjoy a tour of the city, which has several buildings that date from the time of political and cultural domination by the Dutch and Portuguese. Negombo has a Christian majority and there are so many churches that it is known as "Little Rome." The city is built around a lagoon into which the Hamilton Canal empties, which was built by the Dutch to transport cinnamon and other spices. The golden sands of the beach are one of the most emblematic places of Negombo since it is on them where many of the neighbours congregate to browse and buy the catches of lobsters, crabs, prawns and fish. You will also visit the Dutch Fort and the beautiful Catholic Church of Santa María. Dinner included.

Day 9: NEGOMBO – DEPARTURE COLOMBO (75 km – 1.5 hrs)

Breakfast at the Hotel and transfer to the Airport at the corresponding time (recommended between 07:00 am and 01:30 pm). Check-in time for international flights is 3 hours before the flight departure. 

Comfortable and light clothing is the most convenient for travelling in Sri Lanka. Passengers should not wear tank tops, shorts, short skirts, or clothing that is too tight when visiting temples, religious sites, or official buildings. Shoes and hats must be removed before entering a temple or private home. Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat or cap, and mosquito repellent can also be of great help during the trip.
